Scratch
Computer Game Making and Story Telling for Kids: This
class gives the very young and the non-programming
student a chance to
create and share their own computer games and animated
stories. Scratch is a free
learning tool from MIT's Media Lab, Lifelong
Kindergarten group. It's an easy tile-based
visual programming environment and toolkit that lets
kids make games, animate stories, create interactive
art, and share with others on the Net. Scratch
opens a new world of expression and collaboration
never
before
experienced. A complementary,
a one time, one hour, class can be held for
parents.
We will collaborate with Scratch devotees
from around the world.
Level
One Game Maker: This
class is for kids ranging from 10 and older who
want to learn how to create computer games.
Game Maker will be used as a vehicle to learn programming,
technology, and of course game design itself. In addition,
the student will learn how to create animated characters
(sprites) and backgrounds for their own games. The
class will learn Game Maker fundamentals from fun online
tutorials. Games can be posted to the Student Gallery
Web site for friends and families to play, contribute
to, and to exchange ideas. Classes will be set up according
to age.
Level

class is for students who are familiar with Game Maker and are
ready to design and create their own computer games. Students
will learn how to design, code, and test software. The class
will expand upon coding techniques using the Game Maker Language,
and they will be encouraged to use tools such as Photoshop and
Fireworks for sprite creation. During game creation, teamwork
and collaboration will be encouraged. Games can be posted to
the Student Gallery Web site for friends and
families to play, contribute to, and to exchange ideas. Classes
will be set up according to age.

gaming through fun online tutorials. Students will design,
create, and post games of their own creation onto the Student
Gallery Web site for friends and families to play. Classes
will be set up according to age.
An advanced
Java course is available depending on demand.

animations from original drawings, imported graphics with
original and canned sounds. The class is project based.
This structure is designed to build student teamwork and
collaboration skills.
Advanced

Script 3.
Each
student is expected to have Flash on his or her laptop.
Classes: create
a fun, collaborative environment where kids and young adults
learn and share their personal successes and discoveries. Classes
are small, grouped according to age, level
of expertise and compatibility. Although classes are planned
well
in advance, each class is customized according to the technical
expertise, creative abilities and students' interests.
Significant emphasis is placed on expanding each student’s
unique talents.
Private

available for kids, young adults and adults of all levels and
computer needs. I teach computer programming and game design
